Maddy graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of International Relations in 2014. She also holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University, Canberra.
In 2012, Maddy interned with WISEEP (Woman In Slums Economic Empowerment Program), an NGO in Ghana, advocating for the rights of those living in urban slums, and improving their access to health and education.
Whilst completing her studies, Maddy was involved with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, working as a volunteer paralegal for a number of years. She was also the Asylum Explained Workshops Coordinator - initiating and directing legal outreach programs for people seeking asylum, as well as for non-legal professionals working within the refugee sector.
Prior to joining the team, Maddy worked as an Associate to Her Honour Judge Hogan in the County Court, working within both the criminal and civil jurisdictions.
I believe that a person’s civil liberties are of the utmost importance and should demand absolute respect.
Standing up for those within our community who need advocacy, and ensuring people are treated fairly, with dignity and without discrimination, is incredibly important to me.
