Dear Marco,

I don't know how to put into words, to express my sincere gratitude, I have been alone for so long. My Father, for the last 13 years investigated how this happened. He was a great man of extreme principle. He worked so hard, it really killed him. He put a case together, there are three files, plus a 36 page report which marries off with the documentation in the files, I think this would be a good start.

Emily will help me, she has exams at present the last one on Saturday, so we will start on Monday and get the documents to you .

I am a bit overwhelmed with the thought that someone cares It's been a long 21 years, and has hurt a lot of people whom I love so dearly.

My Mother has now passed, I was fortunate to speak to her the night before she died, in that last conversation she made me promise to never give up, I gave my word I would never.

You see I am a person that a promise is my word, I thank you for ringing me today, it means so much .

Hi Rob, Marco and Simon,

I won't take up much of your time, but I just wanted to send a very quick - and long overdue - email to say a massive thank you for everything you have done for me over the last three years.

Aside from achieving an amazing outcome, your patience, compassion, understanding and empathy has been greatly appreciated.  The time you spent with myself and my mum made all the difference in the world - and I realise we can't have been the easiest to deal with at times.

The work you do is so incredibly valuable.  Having made such a huge mess of my life, I felt cut off from the world and completely disempowered.  Having you guys in my corner, so to speak, was so reassuring for me.  I knew that whatever the outcome, you had ensured I was given a fair go. 

Your hard work and dedication certainly paid off - the result was nothing short of a miracle.  Your efforts have allowed me to start a new chapter in my life.  I'm loving uni and am excited about a new career where I feel I can do some good, I am employed and working hard, mental health wise I'm stable and doing all the right things and am still seeing my great team of treaters.  I hate to tell you, but I'm not going to be a repeat client!!

In all seriousness though, a huge thank you to each of you.  I am so pleased that there are people like yourselves in this world doing the great work you do.

Ok so maybe this wasn't as quick an email as I thought it was going to be.  I'll finish up by saying - I owe you all lunch!  Just let me know when suits.

Hey Rob,

Wanted to thank you and give you some feedback.  The young man that last year you sent to Patrick Allen, it was all worth it.  So you did the initial court case and got him an order and then he reoffended but your guy still defended him and now he is just about to do 200 days off all substances.... impressive I am not sure I could do 200 days off all substances.

We have just accepted him into a VU youth work course ....a gateway program and he is determined ....so you know this young man will make a difference with some nurturing along the way.

So thanks for your contribution as always.

I don’t know how to thank you for everything you have done for Luke. The amount of work that went into preparation and presentation of Peta’s submission was so obvious and gratifying.  I couldn’t have brought more to the table myself – every avenue was explored and, by the end of it, I felt that the judge knew quite a lot about who Luke is and not just what he did.  I know it made a great difference to how his Honour viewed the sentencing.   Putting Luke on the stand to speak about his drug addiction, his regret and his remorse was not only good for his case but incredibly good for Luke.  Thank you for that positive.
 
Thank you again Jarrod.  What you perceive as a career actually makes such a difference to lives that have gone awry.  Your work with Luke and your understanding has led him down the first steps of that path.  Whatever happens from here, I will always be very grateful to you.

To Sam Norton

I don't even know where to start.  Sam, I will be forever grateful to you for your hard, passionate work for me in my recent criminal trial at the County Court.  I know we were up against it and some of the evidence against me as we spoke about pre-trial, but you just dug in day in day out and went beyond what you had to do for my best outcome.  At the end of the day, I would not have come home to my family if it was not for you.  The tragedy of that would have been huge.

When the jury's verdicts were read out, they have replayed in my head several times a day and all the verdicts announced were as a result of your really hard work for me and I will never be able to thank you enough.  Sam, if I had a spare million dollars, you would be the person I would gift it to.

I first spoke to Rob Stary about my situation a couple of years ago and I still remember his words (this needs to be fought the right way).  Thanks to you Sam, he was right.  You fought and fought for me and as far as I'm concerned and gave me my life back.

Sam, I wish you all the best.  To a professional and inspirational man of hard work and integrity, I will never forget you Sam and my family will certainly never forget you either.

Although I have only met you once or twice on the steps of the Melbourne Magistrates Court I have a clear view of the work that you do and the success that you achieve both for your clients and in the valuable support of our society in the rule of law and more generally.

Indeed you may not be aware but many years ago a highly respected practitioner Mr Tony Macken who ran the law firm AJ Macken was subject to a nasty report in The Age newspaper.

 I knew Tony well and as in your case the claim was without substance or merit but merely made to cause distress and embarrassment. I had a lunch with Tony soon after and he told me that in the wash up it cause no harm to his practice.
