Alexandra Murrell is a Senior Associate at Stary Norton Halphen & Galbally, practising exclusively in criminal law. She has successfully defended clients charged with a wide range of serious criminal offences and is recognised for her strategic advocacy, meticulous preparation and unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients.

Alexandra graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) before completing her Juris Doctor (JD). She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.
Before rejoining Stary Norton Halphen & Galbally, Alexandra served at the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she undertook important and complex legal work at the highest level. She brings valuable experience, refined legal expertise and a deep understanding of court processes, further strengthening her ability to represent clients facing serious criminal charges.
Alexandra is an accomplished solicitor advocate who regularly appears in the Children's Court, Magistrates' Court and County Court of Victoria. She represents clients in contested hearings, plea hearings, appeals, bail applications, contested committals and intervention order proceedings. She has also instructed counsel in criminal trials and supervision order review proceedings in both the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria.
Her practice covers a broad range of Commonwealth and Victorian criminal law matters, including driving offences, drug offences, trafficking, theft and dishonesty offences, burglary and aggravated home invasion, assault offences, family violence matters, sexual offences and other serious indictable crimes.
Before her admission to legal practice, Alexandra worked as a paralegal at Peta Murphy Chambers (formerly David Ross Chambers), assisting senior and junior counsel in the preparation of complex criminal trials. This early advocacy experience laid the foundation for the practical and strategic approach she brings to every matter.
Known for her compassion, clear communication and dedication to her clients, Alexandra understands the significant impact criminal proceedings can have on individuals and their families.
