BA, LLB (Hons)

Alana holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology) from Monash University. Alana was admitted to practice as a solicitor in December 2021.

Prior to joining Stary Norton Halphen in August 2022, Alana was a solicitor with the Child Protection Litigation Office, where she provided legal advice and representation in child protection matters before the Children’s Court of Victoria.

During her studies, Alana volunteered at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and interned at Monash University’s Anti-Death Penalty Clinic.

Alana’s Reflections:

  • I know that people come into contact with the criminal justice system for reasons that are complex and multifaceted. I strive to understand my clients’ unique experiences, as this enables me to provide tailored advice and robust representation.
  • There is a clear imbalance of power and resources between an accused person and the state. My view is that a key part of my role is to safeguard against abuse of state power by advancing and protecting my clients’ due process rights.
