Lianno Sukte: Ex-Melba College student stomped on man outside Bottlemart Croydon

March 22, 2022

Lianno Sukte, a 20-year-old former Melba College student, received a 12-month community corrections order from the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court for his involvement in multiple violent incidents, including assaulting a PSO and attacking a 57-year-old man with a group of peers. Sukte, who pleaded guilty to charges including drug possession and affray, expressed in a police interview his motive was to "help the bros out."

His defence lawyer, Louise Conwell, argued for a non-custodial sentence to protect his employment, but Magistrate Susan Armour deemed his actions as warranting a conviction due to their severity. Despite the ruling, Ms. Armour noted Sukte's compliance with bail conditions and attendance at church, ultimately opting for a fine instead of community service to safeguard his job.
