Two men, aged 23 and 22, have appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Kwar Ater, a 26-year-old man who was shot in the Melbourne CBD on September 7. Ater was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound but unfortunately died from his injuries. During the court hearing, one of the defendants, Laula, was noted to have an injured wrist and requested medical attention for nerve damage. Laula's defence lawyer Alana Reader asked for her client to be seen by a nurse while in custody, as he had an injury on his wrist and required a prescription for nerve damage.
