Victorian government defends bail laws as opposition criticises new judicial guidance

Sam Norton, Partner at Stary Norton Halphen, appeared on ABC Radio Melbourne to discuss the importance of judicial discretion and independence. Without this discretion, the justice system risks producing unjust outcomes, as it cannot adequately consider the individual circumstances of each case.  Sam highlighted that while community safety is a crucial factor, it shouldn't be the only factor - a just outcome must account for all of the facts of an individual case.
