Luke Metherell
Lawyer, BA, JD, GDLP
Luke holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Juris Doctor from La Trobe University. He has also completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with The College of Law.
Before joining Stary Norton Halphen & Galbally, Luke worked as an Associate to Her Honour Judge Leighfield at the County Court of Victoria. His experience at the Court provided him with a unique understanding of indictable matters and trial work.
Luke’s career has been driven by a firm belief in justice and compassion for the disadvantaged. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked extensively as a researcher and tender writer, with a particular focus on developing evidence-based programs to support youth in contact with the criminal justice system.
During his studies, Luke was awarded the Supreme Court Prize at La Trobe University and published novel research on drug trafficking sentencing practices in Singapore and Malaysia. He has also completed internships with Victoria Legal Aid and Whittlesea Community Legal Service.
